这是在一个资深麻醉医生退休时的欢送会上放的搞笑版本。

Everybody wonders what the anesthetists do while the patient is asleep,
everybody wonders what we do for 3 hours while that machine goes beep;
everybody reckons we drink coffee & we gossip & we are generally subversive,
everybody reckons we do crosswords & sudoku & we chat with all the nurses.
Do you really think that 's all we do ? Oh let me tell you now it isn't true.
(Be)Cause we sometimes check the screen , and every now & then we write stuffs, and if we have to intervene, we inject a bit of white stuff,
And we often do alter the light or the height of the bed, or fiddle with the radio, change the CD,
We even check the patient occasionally.
After they move, turn up the vapor, and let me go back to reading the paper,
Everybody think we just sit and listen to the beep .
Once upon a time , I took pride in my job, now I think it is time to depart, 'cos I just sit here everyday and listen to the beep of the heart.........

人人好奇麻醉医生在病人睡觉时做些什么
人人好奇麻醉机做工时，我们那三小时在做什么
人人以为我们喝咖啡，我们讲闲话，我们一贯造反
人人以为我们填字谜或与所有的护士聊天
你真的以为这就是我们所做的事吗？让我告诉你，你可是错啦。

因为我们有时检查检测仪器平面，有时写东西，如果我们需要插手，我们就会注射一些白色的东西，
而且我们常常调整灯光和床的高度，或者转转电台或换换光碟，
有时还检查病人。
他们开始动了时，就开大气体，然后再回到报章去，
人人以为我们只是坐着听毕毕的声音

很久以前，我为我的工作感到骄傲，但是现在我想是离开的时候了，因为我不过就是天天坐着，听那心跳的毕毕声。。。。。。。。。。

真的很好笑，但是确实是实情啊。

楼主可能有点失落，相信没多少人读懂这样的幽默！其实多数麻醉医师工作10年后都有资格展现这样的幽默、这样的举重若轻，但现在我们国内的医疗形势、医疗环境逼的我们举轻若重，如履薄冰。。。。

我能理解的。这是在欧美的片断录影。
有个美国来的小儿心外麻醉医生告诉我，做麻醉医生就得练到一个境界：你在时，他们不会感觉到你的存在，你不在时，他们（外科医生）立刻就想念你了。:lol

坐着可能也是一种煎熬，我们关注的是病人的整体，表面看似一切都很平静，听着监护仪那“哔，哔……”的心跳声，病人心跳加快或减慢，而我们的心跳也会加快；病人的血压升高或降低，而我们的血压也会飘升。病人生命体征为什么会出现这些变化？如何去解决这些问题？……麻醉医生一直处在一种应激状态下，心理承受的压力可想而知。英国有调查显示，麻醉医生的平均寿命比其他临床科室医生的要短8年，想想也有一定的道理。
