An increased drive to ventilate may also cause dyspnea. Such stimuli include hypoxia, usually when arterial oxygen tensions are less than 60 mmHg, and stimuli from inflamed lung parenchyma, as occur in bacterial pneumonia or alveolitis and that drive the respiratory centers of the brain. 经常碰到读懂英文却苦于中文表述的情况。

drive的原意是驱动力或推动力，但直译的话，中文总是很别扭，因为后面的解释说明都是用的stimuli。结合前后文变通一下，把drive翻成“刺激因素”，再和后面的解释放在一起，中文好象会顺很多。
增加刺激通气的因素也可能引起呼吸困难。这些刺激因素包括低氧，通常为动脉氧分压低于60mmHg，以及细菌性肺炎或肺泡炎时肺实质的炎性产物，它们刺激大脑的呼吸中枢。这些刺激常使静息二氧化碳分压低于40mmHg的正常水平以下，并引起呼吸困难，尤其是轻微活动时。

这句还有点模糊，that drive the respiratory centers of the brain这个that只能指代stimuli from inflamed lung parenchyma，因为缺氧只是兴奋外周感受器，对中枢而言，缺氧起抑制作用。
